Sandwich Making Program

Students have arranged to make sandwiches for a local agency serving disadvantaged Calgarians. These sandwiches are made monthly. In addition, the Alex will come and speak with our students about their services, clients, and the growing need among Calgarians. Students will also have a chance to view the Alex Health Center.

Mise à jour (18 mai 2017)

Thank you for the money that you have provided to the Key Club for the Sandwich Making Program that we host every month. So far, we have used a third of the money to satisfy the needs of one month’s sandwich making cost. As a group, we were able to make about 100 sandwiches for the kids that seek help from the Alex Centre downtown. We were also able to get a representative from the Alex Centre, Barb, to come in and talk to us about their cause and what they do for the city. This was a great opportunity to show the Key Club members what our sandwiches go towards each month, and who all their volunteer hours are going towards. I believe that this was a great investment because there always seems to be a steady number of members that show up to every sandwich making, which means that the project is important to people in our club. Even during the presentation that Barb gave, it seemed like many people showed interest in the topic. As shown by the pictures below, we have received lots of support from the Alex Centre and can tell that they really appreciate the sandwiches every month. Our Kiwanis representative, Joanne, is also constantly telling us that the clients at the Alex are always questioning her about the sandwiches when she drops them off every month.
In conclusion, the money that you have granted the Key Club has been put to good use, as a way to bring our Key Club members closer by supplying them with a project that helps out our city.
