Night (1960) is a book by Elie Wiesel about his teenage experiences of being held prisoner with his father in the Nazi German concentration camps at Auschwitz and Buchenwald between 1944 and 1945, during the Second World War. The book captures the mental, emotional, spiritual and physical anguish that Wiesel experienced in the camps. His writing reveals the complexities, conflicts and contradictions that resonate in the human experience. Wiesel provides a recollection of an adolescent perspective during the Nazi occupation that explores themes of in/humanity, faith and the father-son relationship.
