A Song for Change
Inspired by the 1980s USA for Africa super hit We Are the World, (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M9BNoNFKCBI) Beachy Cove Elementary students research animals, then will write and record a song that speaks to climate change’s effect on species-at-risk. The song will feature solos and duets from the perspective of a variety of endangered and threatened species, with a call to arms chorus sung from the perspective of the students.
Children will then create a video to release with the song.
Update
(May 14, 2019)
The song is written recorded and mixed. We are now producing the images and scenes needed for the video. Editing on the video has also begun.
Update
(June 19, 2019)
The video is ready and released. The editing was a huge amount of work, but children shared the load...some story-boarded, others prepared images, others filmed and prepared the greenscreen images. Two students translated the song from English to French and French to English. It was a shared effort on behalf of all students.
As of today it has been shared with parents, our funders, our penpals in Evian France, VOCM radio and CBC...not sure whether they will share it further, but we are hopeful that the music will get it shared further.
We hope you find the video thought-provoking, and change-inspiring. We're grateful that we were able to share it and we're pleased with all the learning we accomplished during it's creation.
